Dr Derek Collins
Dr Derek Collins has been our Musical Director since September 2015. He has been Head of the Department of Music at Limavady Grammar School since 2004 and was Organist and Master of the Choristers at St. Columb’s Cathedral in Derry until 2024.
Derek is originally from Lisburn. He graduated in Music from Queen’s University Belfast in 1989 and in 2001 with PhD. He studied conducting in Dublin and the Czech Republic and regularly conducted the University Choir and Symphony Orchestra. He was Organ Scholar of St. Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast and Queen’s University and is an active recitalist and accompanist. He is currently Head of Music in Limavady Grammar School and wad Organist and Master of Choristers in St Columb’s Cathedral till Autumn 2024.
Derek also runs an annual ‘In a day’ series of concerts for singers to prepare and perform over 1 day with proceeds going to charity.
