This year’s charity
Our nominated charity for 2024-2025 is The Macular Society. Funds raised will help support people affected by visual loss due to Macular Degeneration. This Charity has helped some of our own members, so we really appreciate its work. You can click on this link to find out more about its local work : Macular Society Northern Ireland. You may not know that our hospital is one of the two NHS NI centres for managing this condition.
Charity donations
Our records go back to 1996 and, as of October 2024, we can confirm that we have raised and donated over £44,000 to 28 individual charities.
In 2024, we donated £3,000 to Life After RTA, a local charity who support families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives on our roads. In the photograph below are shown Marie O’Brien (Vice Chair, Life After), Neil Black (Choir Committee Chair), Maureen Neely (Choir Committee), Lesley Mitchell (Choir Treasurer), Paddy McEvoy (Choir President), Christopher Sherrard (Founder/Secretary, Life After) and Jim Kelley (Choir Committee) in the Altnagelvin Hospital Foyer on Wednesday 19 June 2024.

In 2022-2023, we donated £1000 to St Eugene’s Cathedral Organ Scholars’ Fund and £2000 to Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
