Handel’s Messiah 18th May 2019

We performed Messiah by Handel, at The Guildhall, Derry/Londonderry, on Saturday 18th May 2019 at 730pm. This is our 25th year, our Silver Anniversary, so the event was very special. We last performed the Oratorio in 2007 in Christ Church.

You can hear members of the choir talk about the event and the choir on the John Anderson on Radio Ulster,  Sunday 9th June at 630pm.

This was a special event and the choir was delighted to work with soloists Rebecca Murphy, Doreen Curran, Conor Breen and David Robertson and orchestra leader Tamás Kocsis.  Doreen is from the city herself.

Read about the first ever performance of Messiah in 1742, in the Fishamble music hall in Dublin. The feature picture in our poster is an original print of the music hall at the time of the first performance.
